The statement is made that a man by the name of La Motte was
Captain of the Glasgow, and that he had a son living in Upper Alton,
Ill. and that he had written claimant that there were no records
kept of the death of her husband. And that afterwards, the boat was
burned and all books destroyed. I wrote to Will La Motte, Upper
Alton, and letter returned uncalled for.
