The contents of this website are the works of David Dawley, who amassed and put together a website which contained the most comprehensive set of information related to the steamboat industry on the rivers of the United States. This body of work was no longer available on the internet when the hosting of the website was allowed to expire. All attempts to contact Mr. Dawley, to this point, have failed and much of the information has been hosted here in an attempt to make the information available to a precious few devotees. Our thanks go out to Mr. Dawley and we will hope that continuing attempts to contact Mr. Dawley will be fruitful and that this body of work will be allowed to be made available on the internet again.

In addition to the works of Mr. Dawley, a number of maps and histories of the Missouri and Osage Rivers have been added to make a more complete set of information available on this website. We trust that this information will help to satisfy your information needs relative to the United States rivers and, in particular, the rivers of central Missouri.
